If the bottle says Hogshead

Hogshead Tequila is made by Tusk’ave

Hogshead Single Barrel Añejo is the name of our collections. Tusk’ave is the house that selects each cask, ages it in Los Altos de Jalisco and bottles it on its own.

Who we are. Tusk’ave chooses the casks, follows each one through the years it ages, and decides when it is ready. This site is the house.

The collection

Hogshead

What the label says. A hogshead is an old cooper’s word for a large cask, and we gave it to our single-barrel añejos because the barrel is the whole idea. Collection I is Hogshead Travesía, and the collections after it carry the name too.

Reading the label

Everything on the front of a Hogshead bottle is about one barrel. Here is what each line means.

Single Barrel
One cask, bottled on its own. Never blended with another barrel to make it taste like last year's.
Añejo · Months
More than two years in oak. The label states how many months this cask rested: 27 or 29 in Collection I, and 27 to 31 in Collection II.
Barrel No. · Bottle No. of
Which cask your bottle was drawn from, and where it falls in that cask's run.
% Alc Vol · Proof
Each cask is bottled at the strength it earned, so this number changes from barrel to barrel.
100% Agave · NOM 1634 · CRT
Blue agave only, made at registered distillery NOM 1634 in Los Altos de Jalisco and certified by the Tequila Regulatory Council.
