Regulation & Origin
Tequila is among the most tightly protected spirits in the world. Here is what governs it, and what that means for your cask.

Denomination of Origin
Blue Weber agave, grown in authorized municipalities across Jalisco and limited zones in four other states. Geography is part of the definition: the same spirit made the same way outside that territory cannot be called tequila.
The CRT
The Consejo Regulador del Tequila verifies the origin of the agave, how the spirit was made, its category, and what the label may say. Not a badge a producer awards itself.
NOM 1634
A NOM identifies the distillery that made the tequila. Ours is 1634. With its CRT paperwork, a Tusk'ave barrel's authenticity is established, not asserted.
Certificate of Origin
Every Tusk'ave barrel carries its own specification sheet: age, category and strength, verified rather than estimated.
The question we get most
People expect the barrel itself to arrive. It can't, for the same reason tequila is worth buying at all.
Tequila labelled 100% agave must be bottled inside the Denomination of Origin. It cannot leave the country in bulk.
It is bottled under CRT supervision, numbered, and documented. That is the moment the cask becomes a finished, traceable release.
What crosses the border is finished tequila in glass, exactly as the maestros signed it off. Nothing is diluted, cut, or reworked on the way.
You still buy everything that came out of the barrel, at its own strength, numbered as one release. It simply arrives in glass.

None of this is red tape to us. It is the reason a bottle of tequila can be trusted anywhere in the world.
